Situated in the heart of the Woodlea Estate, Aintree, Go Design was engaged to design an early childcare centre playground that affords play based learning in a fun and safe environment.
The design features a large sensory wall, plenty of shade and meandering paths with a variety of surfaces and textures that encourage natural exploration in a uniquely Australian landscape.
The project stemmed from a need to demolish a historic school structure to make way for a hardstand area that catered for emergency vehicles at the new educational facility.
We designed a feature steel structure to mimic the silhouette of the historic building, along with grassed seating areas that reflected the old floor plan. This outdoor play area was shaped in a maze pattern, with shade sails for protection.
Designed to complement a new triple storey VCE centre, Go Design was tasked to create an outdoor recreation area, resembling a modern tertiary education centre open space.
Featuring a rhythmic use of materials and palette that introduced finishes found elsewhere on site, the design makes excellent use of the natural land fall to deliver fully accessible access to the new building and incorporates outdoor areas to encourage activity and social interaction.
